Listening to place explores acoustic space with electro acoustic aids. Through audio feedback the sound engineer and performer will play and explore the acoustic properties of the space they are in. The process of composition and performance is an exercise in conscious listening and collaboration between performer, space and engineer.

Songbirds are a type of wind-activated electro-acoustic sculpture, made from readily available materials such as metal conduit, PVC tubing or glass bottles. Mariglio will perform with these sculptures, using them to enhance the sonic environment where they are installed.

2nd Order Perceptions, Noo Tropics and the Last Frontier

Presentation of my current research project which aims to secure 2nd order perceptions from the vague field of introspection and make them communicable by turning them into a collection of prototype patterns (highly abstract 3D animations). In 2011, the electronic music duo Icarus (Ollie Bown and Sam Britton), have been working with a combination of generative and traditional music making techniques to produce a 'parametric' album that is available in 1,000 variations. Ollie Bown will discuss the pleasures and perils of composing parametric music.

Using vignettes of images, sound, and poetry via QR-codes to navigate the mythic spaces and poetic encounters of the city Josh Harle attempts to reactivate the imagination as a faculty through which we experience our surroundings.

BodMusic: 3D Encounter with Chinese Culture
