Michael Bylstra

Michael Bylstra is a web developer/programmer with more ideas than he has time to build them. He endured a Computer Science degree at Melbourne University in order to be able to create new software synths and experiment with generative art. After a short while in Japan working as research assistant for the Kwansei Gakuin University Music Technology Lab, he completed an Honours degree in Creative Communication at Canberra University. He developed a system for the sonification of live video of clouds using a novel synthesis engine and demonstrated his work at a presentation on Data Sonification at This Is Not Art 2007.

Michael has shifted his focus towards the web and currently works as a front-end developer for New Zealand based geotagged photo sharing startup sna.pr. Currently his main side project is gold-cradle.com, a website for Music Blog recommendation and streaming. He is excited as he is overwhelmed by the volume of new music populating the internet and seeks to find the best ways to put listeners in control of discovering music. He sees The Cloud as being the future of digital music recording and production, and he plays drums for <plug>Teddy Trouble</plug>.
